OK the parade has come and gone and sadly this is the first year that I did not check them all out. I did however manage to check a few of them out though and the ones that I saw were great. Innovative and livable. I have said it before and I will say it again landscaping makes a good home great. So props to my brother of DC Landscapes for a great job.

At one time or another growing up my family has had a mountain home or cabin as we called it. And It just so happens that we don’t have one this year. My family and I are missing the winter escape. So for the newest and last plan of 2008 I present this lovely little lodge. It is not quite finished but here is a sneak peek at where I am headed with it. Happy New Year! This plan will be for sale the first week in January.
Sorry I forgot to update with this link.

First of all I came across this website sometime last week and I loved it. If you venture to it check out the videos of Jay’s personal home. I dont know Jay-never even heard of him or his homes until I found his website. I love what he is doing.
Personally I am a huge fan of small homes but I dont think I could manage in such a small space (especially with my kids) but this weeks Plan was inspired by Jay Shafer and his Tumbleweed Homes.
I put a lot of time and thought into this plan. It utilizes every space. For instance The closet in the main room hangs on a pole and slides out into the main room. Pulled out it covers the windows and helps turn the main room into a bedroom. A wall bed above the couch folds down over the couch finalizing the conversion. Place dirty clothes in hamper in closet at bedtime, in the morning get dressed push closet back into place and have access to the dirty clothes hamper in the bath room next to the stacked washer and dryer. Computer desk, wood burning fireplace, built in dinette, and ladder access to the loft and storage in the basement. I left the basement open but you could utilize that space how ever you needed. You can purchase this plan here

This plan is based off of an idea I have in my head of what some fairytale cottages must have been like. A big idea in a smaller package. 2 bedrooms and a larger bunk room in the basement. A built in corner dining table takes little space in the kitchen. The rotunda staircase adds a little charm to the mix. Using tankless water heaters at all sinks, tubs, and showers minimizes on space and is great for efficiency. Wood burning fireplace in the great room provides great warmth for the upper levels. The basement and the main floor are each 1000 sq. ft. The upper floor is 556 sq. ft. At 2556 total sq. ft. living space this little package holds great value. This plan is available in the plan store for purchase. Click here.

This plan was designed for the health conscious person who cares about his/her Eco-footprint. This design is open for solar day-lighting with proper placement on lot, year-round herb gardening in the atrium, the ability to (if local law permits) apply rain catchment systems, discretely hide solar photovoltaic panels and/or solar water heating panels, and do all this with old-world charm. 16′ foot ceilings in the kitchen with large clerestory windows above. We were just informed that one of our homes will be featured in the 2009 St. George Parade of Homes. Here is a sneak peek. This home is 5000 sq.ft. give or take. It was designed for a local builder as his personal residence. Be sure to catch this one during the parade. Yes with the economy in turmoil, this years parade will most likely be more down scaled than last years parade.

This plan is something that I came up with for a fairly narrow and deep lot. It provides great seclusion for kids and allows for a home office that can accommodate clients while maintaining privacy and includes it own bathroom (could be used as a casita or mother in law suite). Side entry double car garage with a front entry single door as well. Master is on main level, and upper floor has three bedrooms and media room. All this and under 3500 sq.ft. Great design. Check Plan 3476 out here Please feel free to rate it as well.
